SPRAVATO® is an NMDA receptor antagonist that works on glutamate. The exact mechanism of SPRAVATO® is unknown; however, it is different from traditional antidepressants as it works on glutamate.

How To Track Your Progress With SPRAVATO®

Some may notice an improvement as soon as a few treatments, while others take a few weeks to show an effect.

Your healthcare provider will monitor your progress using the PHQ-9 questionnaire.

Let your provider know if you have experience with sedation, dissociation, and respiratory depression.

Things To Discuss With My Provider Before Starting SPRAVATO®

  • Discuss all medications you take with your health care provider. These can include all prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and any supplements and vitamins.
  • Tell your provider if you take any CNS medications, psychostimulants, or monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
  • Discuss all your medical conditions with your provider. If you have heart or brain problems, including:
    • High blood pressure (hypertension)
    • Slow or fast heartbeats that cause shortness of breath, chest pain, lightheadedness, or fainting
    • A history of heart attacks
    • History of stroke
    • Heart valve disease or heart failure
    • History of brain injury or any condition where there is increased pressure in the brain
    • Have liver problems
    • Have psychosis
    • Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should not take SPRAVATO® if you are pregnant.
